A Glimpse into My Life (+ hatching chicks!)

Good evening! What have you all been up to?

Today I want to share some pictures of what I’ve been doing lately. Because… I never really do that. 😉

What you’ll find in this post

  • Cute pictures of baby chicks hatching!
  • A gorgeous sky
  • Flowerssss
  • Painting Easter eggs!
  • My cute 2 year old sister
  • My new story + updates on my writing

We sort of feel like farmers now, because normally we hatch chicks in an incubator, but this time the hens just got broody and guarded their clutch like a…. well, like a mother hen. So we decided to watch and see what happens.

And THIS is what happened!

Isn’t it adorable?? That one is the first chick to hatch, and there’s a second one coming. So far, we aren’t sure about the other eggs.

Proud mamas!

I didn’t think they’d actually hatch, but here we are, with new additions to our roost!

A couple days ago, I saw this purple + pink sky and COULD NOT resist taking like a hundred snapshots of it. (Although I thought I should probably just share one on here. Haha.) And even though Easter already passed, it just feels like such an Easter sky, right? The colours are beautiful.

Speaking of Easter, we dyed eggs!

It was, um, interesting to do it with a two year old. The entire time I was terrified she’s swipe her little arm and spill the dark dye all over the table. But it actually went well! (Only one container of dye was spilled, so I guess that’s good news. 😛 )

So—what’s going on with my writing life? WELLLLL…. *happy dance*

THE AUTHOR PROGRAM.

*squeal*

Guys, this is absolutely surreal to me! The thought that I can actually pursue writing as a career is incredible!

In the program, I’m starting a new story (which at the moment has no name). I’m still in the beginning stages of brainstorming this story, and here’s a collage I put together of just the overall feel of the story.

I’m so excited for it! Admittedly, it took a little while to get into it, but now it’s all starting to come together! I love the themes that are sliding into place and the characters. ❤

And that is my writing space! Have you guys ever tried writing with flowers in sight? When we set up my desk and writing corner, I added the gorgeous yellow flowers to my desk and it’s perfect! It’s inspiring to have such beauty right in front of you.

And then there’s my two-year-old sister! She likes my desk too. 😉 To be honest, she’s basically my writing mascot. And brainstorming buddy.

Here is a not-so-flattering snapshot of me practically DYING surviving a great escapade with my family. Come for a walk, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.

Yeah, no. It was more like a hike through the jungle.

The story goes like this: Dad and Mom wanted to go for a walk on a Sunday afternoon, which I was game for, but I didn’t realize that they didn’t want to walk on the road. NOPE. They were planning to trek through the bush. On normal occasions, that wouldn’t be so bad. Except that a couple years ago our town had a massive windstorm which whipped up the forest, so walking was absolutely brutal. Every couple steps there was a fallen tree, laughing as it blocked our way. Then we had to maneuver around it. I mean, it was certainly adventurous. But…. not how I had pictured my Sunday afternoon. When we finally reached the edge of the bush, we looked like a wilderness family that hasn’t seen society for decades. 😂

All in all, life has been a bit exciting and a bit boring at times. I’m trying to find the good in life—especially in the small things. Because, the small things are actually huge.

What have you been doing? Has life been keeping you busy or has it been slow? Have you ever seen baby chicks hatching? What’s your current story about?

Blessings,

Alabama Rose

  1. This was fun to read!
When I first saw the title, I read “hacking tricks” instead of “hatching chicks”, and at first I was like “Oooh this should be convenient!” XD But, you know, those chicks are still adorable.
So is your little sister oh she’s so cute!! I noticed her skin and hair like that of a Latina. Is she? She vaguely resembles my little foster sister.

  2. Thanks Danny! Haha that’s… not what the post is about, sorry to disappoint. 😂 Although “hacking tricks” could very well be an interesting topic to cover. 😉
Awww, isn’t she?? I can’t get enough of how cute she is. She’s actually Native American (or Indigenous), but I can see how she looks like a Latina! We hope one day to adopt her. ❤ We're praying for a miracle in that area!
