The first draft of Oxygen has now been completed!
*collapses on the floor*
You need to understand that when I first came up with the plot of this story, I was expecting, planning, for a story around 10,000 words that I could share on my blog. However, a few of the characters have their own plans, and somehow the story ended at 73,434 words long.
Mizuko, my main character, just shrugs at me with a side grin. He couldn’t care less about how long it all turned out. Some of the other characters are sitting on the side lines laughing at me. (Somebody save me from them!)
Anyway. Yes. Oxygen is a novel-length book. So that leaves me with a question—what happens next?
Well, I’m letting it simmer on the back burner of the stove. It needs to be rewritten eventually. Rewritten, re-outlined, re-everything! But for now, I’m taking a break from overall writing. And it’s been awesome!
I’m thinking that I’ll ease back into writing within the next month by writing short stories here and there. (Possibly sharing some on the blog!)
Then I’ll begin to write the second draft of Oxygen. It will be rough, but I’m excited for it! My characters need me to fix some of those confusing plot holes. 😉
Here’s a photo collage to give you a tiny taste of the story:
A character interview featuring Mizuko is coming soon!
