Can you imagine what life would be like if you had nobody on your team? If you had no one to be with you, to take your hand when you fall, to always be right beside you?
What would life be like?
Honestly, I can’t imagine.
Who would you turn to? Who would be with you?
No one to talk to, no one to help you. On your own. Nobody’s got your back.
Somedays, it feels like that. Somedays, we just don’t know who to turn to. Who cares if we fall and scrape our knees?
Maybe you feel like that. Your life may be falling apart and you don’t know what to do. Your friends maybe aren’t your friends anymore. Your parents may not be there for you.
Then the anxiety and loneliness kick in. You start doing things you never wanted to do.
We are in the middle of a war. We’re stuck in battle; good vs evil.
My dad always says, “There are two different dogs inside us. A good one and a bad one. They’re fighting against each other, and whichever one you feed will become the strongest.”
We may want to be on the good team – fighting with Jesus – but if we keep feeding the bad dog with what we think, say, and do, then we aren’t helping out our team. Of course, we already know which team wins in the end. The Bible tells us this many times.
(I couldn’t pick just one, so here are three.)
The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD. ~ Proverbs 21:31
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:57
I have told you these things, so in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. ~ John 16:33
It is clearly stated that the LORD will win. So what have we to fear? Many things, apparently. Even though I hear these words often, somehow I’m not able to let the words fully sink in and believe that God has it covered.
He’s got my back. He won’t let me down.
And yet, I still doubt. I still feel like panicking when things fly out of control. Have you ever thought, “Man, this is a rough ride. Who’s flying this thing, anyway??”
Well, it turns out that we don’t need to fear. God is flying this thing, and if you ask me, he’s the best pilot for the job.
If God is always right behind us, then whom shall we fear? He never wanders from our side. He’ll always be right there to pick you up.
I know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angels armies
Is always by my side
~ Whom Shall I Fear by Chris Tomlin
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
~ No Longer Slaves by Zach Williams
Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear, he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear, he is a liar
~ Fear Is a Liar by Zach Williams
So remember if you got the LORD on your side, you ain’t gotta be afraid o’ nuthin’. 😉
